Summary:

South County Buick GMC is looking for an experienced Automotive Sales Consultant to join our team. We offer competitive pay, plus health, dental, and vision insurance. We provide employer paid life and long-term disability insurance as well as offer a 401(k) plan with an employer contribution. Responsibilities include understanding the features of all motor vehicles that are available for purchase and being able to communicate this information effectively to customers and potential customers via the internet/phone.

Primary Duties: Non-Exempt Position

Primary Responsibilities:

The Sales Consultant is expected to

  • Communicates effectively with Internet customers and prospects according to their preferred method of communication, whether by phone, by email or in person.
  • Has thorough knowledge of all dealership products and services.
  • Satisfies the transportation needs of Internet-generated customers.
  • Sells/leases and delivers a minimum required units per month.
  • Directs customers to product information resources, including those available on the Internet.
  • Assists customers in selecting vehicles.
  • Understands the psychology of Internet customers and works with them accordingly to draw them into the store for proper vehicle demonstration and to close the transaction.
  • Checks email frequently and responds to inquiries immediately. Delivers messages intended for other departments promptly. Notifies customers that their messages have been forwarded to the appropriate personnel for prompt attention.
  • Handles all Internet sales inquiries personally.
  • Coordinates Internet promotions with other dealership sales promotions and advertising.
  • Maintains an ongoing customer database to capture repeat business.
  • Knows and understands the federal, state and local laws that govern retail automobile sales.
  • Establishes personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity and devises a strategy to meet those goals.
  • Keeps abreast of new products, features, accessories etc., and their benefits to customers.
  • Attends product and sales training as requested by sales manager.
  • Schedules first service appointment.
  • Attends sales meetings.
  • Maintain professional appearance.
  • Operate with integrity


Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in automotive sales. GM experience highly preferred.
  • Phone, computer, email, and internet proficiency.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must maintain a valid CA Sales License.
  • Ability to understand and follow processes and procedures.


Physical Requirements:

  • Required to operate equipment and always move vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Work preformed in a showroom setting.
  • Required to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, talk, hear, use hands and fingers, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
  • Required vision include close vision.
